- Chat room reports: a review within 72 hours.
- Deletion requests: an answer within 30 days with a deletion date or the reason email deletion cannot proceed. Pod Monster cannot delete a library by email while a device is still using it.
How library sync works
Pod Monster stores the shows you follow and your playback positions on its server. Every device using your library can resume an episode where another left off. There is no sign-in or password. Settings identifies your library by its Library ID, with no name or email address attached.
See the library sync page for joining or leaving a library and using a library code.
How to delete your library
Open Settings in Pod Monster and copy your Library ID somewhere safe now. Settings is the only place it appears, and it is the one thing you can quote if you ever lose the device.
A host device, meaning the device that started the library, can use "Delete this library" in Settings. Deleting the library removes its shows, playback positions, and device list for every device. The app then starts a new, empty library under a new Library ID.
A device that joined with a library code cannot delete the library. That device leaves the library in Settings instead. The library stays available to everyone else.
If you no longer have a device that can open the library, email [email protected] and quote the Library ID. Pod Monster acts on that request only when no device has opened the library in the last 30 days. If a device is still using it, the reply says so and points you to "Delete this library" in Settings on a host device.
See the privacy policy for full deletion details, including what happens to other data Pod Monster holds.
How to leave, block, and report in a chat room
You can leave a chat room at any time from the room screen. Blocking a nickname hides that person's messages from your view. You can report a room from the app. Pod Monster reads reports within 72 hours and can turn a room off in the app, so the app stops offering it to anyone.
Joining a room is optional. Everyone in the room sees your nickname, so choose one you are comfortable sharing with strangers. Pod Monster does not let anyone post a message through the app to a chat room. It only displays messages that people post to the chat server a podcast names. The podcast names the server in its feed and runs it. Pod Monster does not control any chat room and cannot remove messages from a server it does not run.
Read the terms of use for the chat room rules.
How to get help with a boost
Pod Monster is not a wallet. It holds no funds and takes no fee. A boost goes from your own Lightning wallet to the recipients a podcast lists in its feed. No Pod Monster server sees the payment, and Pod Monster holds no record of it: no amount, no recipient, and no message. Pod Monster cannot trace or refund a payment. The app learns the state of a payment only from your wallet.
For help with a boost, ask:
- Your wallet provider, about your wallet and its payments.
- The podcast, about the recipients. The podcast names them in its feed, and Pod Monster does not check them.
If your wallet does not reply for a recipient within 30 seconds, the app shows "Unknown. Check your wallet before you boost again." for that recipient. The payment can still go through, and the app does not send it again. Before you boost again, check Boost History or your wallet history. If the history does not answer it, ask your wallet provider.
Until you quit the app, if you boost the same show again after an unknown result, the app asks you to check your wallet first and offers "Show last result". The app remembers that result only in memory, so the reminder ends when you quit the app.
If a keysend payment to a Lightning address fails, the app can offer "Pay with an invoice" for that recipient. Check your wallet first. The failed payment can still settle, and then the recipient gets paid twice. The boosts page explains when the app offers it.
To see past boosts:
- Open Boost History in Settings > Boosts. It needs the optional "Read transaction history" permission, which you turn on for the Pod Monster connection in your wallet.
- Or open the history in your wallet. Your wallet history is the record. The app does not keep its own boost history.
To disconnect a wallet:
- Tap Disconnect in Settings > Boosts on the device where you connected your wallet. That deletes the connection from that device.
- Or, if a wallet is connected, "Delete this library" in Settings also offers "Delete and Disconnect Wallet". That option deletes the library, then the connection, and then clears your sender name on every device signed in to your Apple Account.
- Then revoke the connection in your wallet. The wallet keeps it until you revoke it there.
The connection stays in the Keychain of the device you paired it on and does not sync, and no Pod Monster server receives it. Removing the app does not revoke the connection. iOS keeps the connection on the device, and a new install of Pod Monster deletes it before any use. Revoke it in your wallet.
If you lose your phone or a copy of the connection string, revoke the connection in your wallet right away. Anyone who holds a copy can spend from your wallet up to the budget, or your whole balance if there is no budget.
The connection string and its QR code are a secret. Never send them to anyone, Pod Monster support included.
Before each boost, the Send Boost button asks for Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode, and the Pay Invoice button asks again before an invoice payment. If you cancel the check, nothing is sent. A device with no passcode cannot send a boost, and the app shows "Set a device passcode in Settings to send boosts."
The boosts page explains how boosts work. The terms of use cover boosts, and the privacy policy lists what each party receives.
How to get help with a donation
A podcast can list funding links in its feed. When you tap one, the app opens it in an in-app browser. A donation on that page is between you and the service the podcast names, under that service's terms. That service handles your donation, its receipt, and any refund.
Pod Monster does not see the donation and cannot refund it. For help with a donation, contact the service on the funding page.
How to leave the waitlist
Email [email protected] and ask to remove your address from the waitlist. Write from the address you signed up with, or name that address in the message. Pod Monster will delete it.
The waitlist stores only your email address and signup time. Pod Monster deletes them when you ask or when it closes the waitlist as the app becomes publicly available. See the privacy policy for retention rules for other data.
How to turn notifications off
Open the iOS Settings app, find Pod Monster, and turn Notifications off. The new episode alerts and the live alerts stop, and that withdraws the consent you gave at the iOS prompt.
You can turn notifications back on in iOS Settings. Turning them on or off does not change your library or anything else in the app.
