Terms of use

Updated October 7, 2026

These terms cover the Pod Monster app and podmonster.app. Apple licenses the app and handles any purchase made through Apple. You must be 16 or older. Pod Monster stores your library on its server, and anyone with your library code can open it. Podcasts supply the shows and chat rooms. You can leave or report a chat room from the app. A donation is between you and the funding service a podcast names. A boost goes from your own wallet to the recipients a podcast's feed names, and Pod Monster does not check them. Pod Monster receives no part of either one, and Apple handles neither. Send questions to [email protected].

Accepting these terms

By downloading, opening, or using Pod Monster, or by using podmonster.app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the app or the site.

These terms are an agreement between you and Pod Monster LLC. Apple is not a party to them. Your app license comes from Apple under the agreement linked below.

Who can use Pod Monster

You must be 16 or older to use the app or the site. Pod Monster is not made for children, and it is not directed at anyone under 16. If you are under 16, do not use it.

If you believe someone under 16 uses Pod Monster, write to [email protected]. Pod Monster holds no name, email address, or age for a library. The privacy policy explains how it handles reports about children.

Your license to use the app

Apple, not Pod Monster, is the seller of the app. Apple handles the purchase of the app, any other purchase made through Apple, and their refunds. Your license to use the app is Apple's standard license for an app that ships without one of its own. It is Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Read that agreement with these terms.

These terms add no license right, no warranty, and no support promise wider than that agreement gives you. Where these terms and that agreement disagree about the license itself, that agreement wins. The disclaimer, liability limit, and indemnity below are Pod Monster LLC's terms in addition to Apple's license.

Your library

Pod Monster creates a library when you first open the app. Its server stores the shows you follow, your playback positions, and your sort order. There is no sign-in or password.

You can view a library code in Settings. Anyone with that code can use any device to join your library, read your shows, and change them. Share it only with someone you trust with your library. You are responsible for activity on your library after you share the code.

Pod Monster may delete a library that breaks these terms. It also deletes a library 90 days after the last device leaves it. Deleting the app from a device does not take that device off the library.

How you may use Pod Monster

Use Pod Monster to listen to podcasts. Do not do any of the following:

  • break the law with it, or use it to harass or threaten anyone, including in a boost message or a sender name;
  • open a library that is not yours, or use a library code you were not given;
  • attack, overload, or probe the servers, or work around a rate limit;
  • scrape the service with an automated tool;
  • copy, sell, or republish what the app shows you beyond what the podcast's own license allows;
  • take the app apart, or build a competing service out of it;
  • remove or hide a notice of ownership that the app or a feed carries.

Pod Monster may limit or end your access if you do any of them.

Content from other people

Pod Monster is a podcast player. Podcasts and the services named in their feeds provide the shows, episode audio, artwork, chapters, transcripts, chat rooms, funding pages, and the recipient lists for boosts. Pod Monster does not create, own, check, or control that content and makes no promise about it. Each publisher sets its own terms.

If you believe something Pod Monster shows infringes a copyright you own or represent, email a copyright complaint to [email protected] (preferred), or mail it to Pod Monster LLC, 1604 Philadelphia Pike PMB 331, Wilmington, DE 19809, US. For questions, call (609) 284-9823. Please include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. The copyrighted work you believe has been infringed, or a representative list of works.
  3. The material you believe infringes it and enough information, such as a link or the name of the show and episode, for us to find it in Pod Monster.
  4. Your address, phone number, and email address, if you have one.
  5. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, the owner's agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your complaint is accurate and that, under penalty of perjury, you are authorized to act for the copyright owner.

Pod Monster can stop showing material in the app. It cannot remove that material from the server that publishes it, because it does not run that server. Pod Monster ends the access of anyone who infringes more than once.

Chat rooms

You can leave a chat room at any time. Blocking a nickname hides that person's messages from your view. You can report a room from the app. Pod Monster reads reports within 72 hours and can turn a room off in the app, so the app stops offering it to anyone.

Joining a room is optional. Everyone in the room can see your nickname, so choose one you are comfortable sharing with strangers. Pod Monster does not let anyone post a message through the app to a chat room. It only displays messages that people post to the chat server a podcast names. The podcast names the server in its feed and runs it. Pod Monster does not control any chat room and cannot remove messages from a server it does not run. It can turn a room off in the app.

Purchases and refunds

Pod Monster is free today. If the app later offers something to buy, Apple is the seller. Apple handles the payment, the receipt, and any refund request for that purchase under its terms. Ask Apple for a refund through your purchase history. Pod Monster cannot refund a payment that Apple processed.

Apple does not handle a donation or a boost, and Pod Monster cannot refund either one. A donation goes through a funding link that a podcast puts in its feed. It is between you and the service that the podcast names, under that service's terms. For help with a donation, contact that service.

A boost is between you, your wallet, and the recipients that the podcast names. For help with a boost, contact your wallet provider. The podcast answers for its recipients.

Boosts

A boost is an optional gift of sats to the people behind a podcast. It goes from a Lightning wallet you own, which you connect in Settings > Boosts, to the recipients the podcast names in its feed. A message you add goes with the payment to each recipient paid by keysend, and to a recipient paid by invoice when its payment host accepts a comment. A boost unlocks nothing in the app.

The feed names the recipients and their shares, and Pod Monster does not check them. A feed can name a fee recipient, which takes its share first. A share the app cannot send, such as a share below one sat or one your wallet cannot pay, stays in your wallet and goes to no other recipient.

Pod Monster is not a wallet. It holds no funds and takes no fee. Pod Monster and Apple receive no part of a boost.

If your wallet offers a budget for the connection, set one. That budget is the limit that protects you. Pod Monster cannot set or see it. With no budget, anyone who holds the connection can spend your whole balance.

A sent boost is final. Pod Monster cannot trace or refund it. If your wallet does not reply for a recipient within 30 seconds, the app shows "Unknown. Check your wallet before you boost again." for that recipient. The payment can still go through, and the app does not send it again.

If your wallet reports that a keysend payment to a Lightning address failed, the app can offer to pay that share by invoice. The app never pays by invoice on its own, and you approve each payment. Your wallet can still settle the failed payment later, so the recipient can get paid twice. Check your wallet before you approve an invoice payment.

The app learns the state of a payment only from your wallet, so your wallet history is the record of a boost. The app saves no record of a boost, and no Pod Monster server receives its amount, its message, or your sender name.

The terms of your wallet provider apply to your wallet, including its own age rule. The boosts page explains how to connect a wallet, set a budget, and check your wallet history.

No warranty

Pod Monster is provided "as is" and "as available". Apart from the warranty in Apple's standard license, and to the fullest extent the law allows, Pod Monster LLC disclaims every warranty, written or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

Pod Monster does not guarantee that the app or site will work without errors or interruptions. It does not guarantee that feeds, chapters, transcripts, chat rooms, or funding pages will load, that a wallet or a relay will answer, that a boost will reach its recipients, or that your library will keep all its data. Some places do not allow this disclaimer, so part of this section may not apply to you.

Limit on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Pod Monster LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profit, or lost goodwill, that come out of these terms or out of your use of Pod Monster. This holds even if Pod Monster LLC was told such a loss was possible.

Pod Monster LLC's total liability for all claims is the greater of what you paid Pod Monster in the twelve months before the claim and US $25. A boost or a donation is not a payment to Pod Monster, and it does not count toward what you paid Pod Monster. Some places do not allow a limit like this one, so part of this section may not apply to you.

Claims you cover

You agree to defend and cover Pod Monster LLC, its members, and its contractors against any claim, loss, liability, and cost, including a reasonable legal fee, that comes out of your use of Pod Monster, out of anything you share through it, out of your breach of these terms, or out of your breach of a law or of someone else's rights.

Pod Monster will tell you about a claim it wants covered. You may run the defense with a lawyer Pod Monster agrees to, and it will not refuse without a good reason.

Ending your use

You can stop using Pod Monster whenever you like. To remove what the server holds, delete the library in Settings on a host device, then delete the app. A device that joined with a code leaves the library in Settings instead, because it cannot delete a library it did not start.

Pod Monster may suspend or end your access, or delete a library, if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if it stops running the service. Pod Monster gives notice where it can, but it holds no email address for a library, so a notice usually appears on podmonster.app.

The sections on content, warranty, liability, claims you cover, and governing law continue to apply after you stop using Pod Monster.

Governing law and where a dispute is heard

Pod Monster LLC is a Pennsylvania limited liability company. The law of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania governs these terms, without regard to its conflict of law rules.

You and Pod Monster agree that a state or federal court in Pennsylvania hears any dispute about these terms, and you each accept that court's jurisdiction. If the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts, this section does not take that right away.

Changes to these terms

Pod Monster can change these terms. When it does, it posts the changed page here, sets the Updated date at the top of this page, and lists the change at podmonster.app/changelog.

If you keep using Pod Monster after a change, you accept the changed terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the app and delete your library.
